This proficient Latin language course is for students who have studied for two years already. New students who have studied at least six terms of the Latin language, or equivalent, are welcome.

Encounter the living Latin language. Learn to pronounce, read and understand Latin from original texts, both ancient and modern. Learn to compose our own sentences. Instructions given in English.

Based on the teaching method of Reginald Foster, there are no vocabulary cards! No paradigms to memorise! Just the living language to understand, write and speak. Working slowly, using simple texts for a clear understanding of the author’s work.
Required book:

Simpson, D.P. – ‘Cassell’s Latin Dictionary’ – (Macmillan, New York 1959) or equivalent, including a small English to Latin section.
